The joy of connection at Bupa Runaway Bay

In this close-knit community in Bupa Runaway Bay, the wonderful staff and residents share a special bond that goes beyond the ordinary.

Music from the 40s and 50s played, evoking cherished memories of youth and moments long past.

Bupa Runaway Bay residents, moved by the music, began swaying and humming along to the songs. With a few words here and there, they hum and sing along, filling in the gaps with "la la la la's."

Team members joined in, watching the delight in residents’ eyes, and soon there was dancing, singing and sharing the joy of connection.

Spirits were lifted, their smiles grew wider, and joy radiated from their every movement.

It was a testament to the profound impact of music for people living with dementia and for those with specialised care needs.

Living at Bupa Aged Care, residents are at the centre of everything we do, and the specialist dementia care that we offer reflects this. Hobbies and interests are considered in tailoring support to individual needs.

Bupa’s approach to care is ‘Person First', which puts the individual person first when considering their needs.
